At last, a day cruise with style...
Inside, the view is spectacular; the salon with its bar and the dining room are bask in natural light as the walls are essentially extra large windows. There is a pair of modern toilettes available and a modern kitchen at the back of the ship. Fournitures are tastefully blending with the decor and it must be noted that 3 beautiful painting of Fam Luc (aka the Painter of Peace and one of Vietnam's most famous contemporary artist) are suspended in the dining room. At the bar, where guests can order cocktails or juices stand a competent barman that speak good english. The attention of the crew to the guests was irreproachable but we suspect that service will become increasingly better with some more weeks of operation under the belt.
So there we went, comfortably seated to our destination to one of the beaches of Hon Tre where a small group of people (going with us on the ship) were going to make a photo shoot with models. The speed of the ship was impressive and it was in no time before we could see the beautiful Nha Trang coastline. Skyline is probably more appropriated to say today as there are so many new tall hotels that have appeared in the last few years. If those hotels would have been constructed one street behind Tran Phu St. (the street along the beach) and if the authorities would have been more astucious to play the nostalgia card and let the old villas border the beach intact (most have disappeared), Nha Trang would have been one of the most beautiful coastal city in the World no doubt...oh well, it is, still a wonderful city to live in! And from the desk of a cruise ship, it look beautiful and impressive I hate to say.
There is another place changing fast and it is Hon Tre. Vinpearl is expending all azimut! New hotels, new villas and new areas of exploitations; someone is pouring hundred of million dollars! Let hope that their plans will bear the results and profits to the greater Nha Trang area.
Longing the northern coast of Hon Tre, the ship stopped at a small bay where kayak were lowered in the water and the speed boat brought the rest of us at the beach on the shore. My kids went on a shells hunt and the rest of the group went on for their photographic mission. Great fun at the beach and azure blue water very inviting...and idyllic end of morning and beginning of afternoon.
In conclusion, this cruise is not for everyone, it is a deluxe cruise intended for the visitors staying in the most expensive hotels and resorts of the city. But if you are in the category of well-to-do people and have the chance and the means spend money in a quality day cruise...do it! You will not regret it!
